Add Forwarding Address for Gmail Inbox

Note: Adding a forwarding address must be done on a desktop computer. This feature is not available in the Gmail mobile app.

To add a forwarding address for your Gmail inbox, follow these steps:

  1. Open Gmail on your computer.
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right, then select See all settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. In the Forwarding section, click the Add a forwarding address button.
  5. Enter the forwarding email address from Hoory (or destination address) you want to forward your messages to, then click Next and Proceed.
  6. A verification message or code will be sent to that forwarding address. Open the destination email inbox (or check Hoory) and click the verification link or copy the verification code to confirm.
  7. Return to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings page in your original Gmail account and refresh your browser.
  8. Select Forward a copy of incoming mail to and choose the verified email address from the dropdown menu.
  9. Decide what happens to the copy of the email in your Gmail inbox (it is recommended to keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox).
  10. Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.

Important Notes

  • Verification: You must verify the destination address before forwarding will start sending messages.
  • Notifications: For the first week after enabling forwarding, Gmail displays a reminder notice at the top of your inbox indicating that email forwarding is active.
  • Selective Forwarding: If you only want to forward specific emails rather than all incoming mail, leave the main forwarding setting off and create a Gmail filter instead.
