Generate App Password for Gmail Inbox

Prerequisite: Ensure you have 2-Step Verification enabled on your Google Account before generating an App Password.

To generate an App Password for your Gmail account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Google Account Security settings.
  2. In the "How you sign in to Google" section, click on 2-Step Verification.
  3. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and select App passwords.
  4. Enter a descriptive name for the app or device you are connecting (e.g., "Hoory AI" or "SMTP Server").
  5. Click Create.
  6. A window will appear displaying a 16-character code. Copy this code immediately, as Google will not show it to you again.
  7. In your email application or Hoory channel settings, paste this 16-character code into the password field instead of your regular Google Account password.

Important Reminders​

  • Do not share this password with anyone.
  • If you lose the password, you cannot recover it; you will simply need to generate a new one by following these steps again.
  • If you revoke access (by deleting the App Password in your Google settings), the app will no longer be able to access your account.
